I may have found another big time literary hoax. Someone claiming to be the British author Peter Ackroyd, who wrote the wonderful Shakespeare: The Biography, is claiming to have written Thames: The Biography. If there is DNA from the ’05 Ackroyd to compare to the ’09 Ackroyd, the publisher should pay the lab fees. Two hundred pages of florid flab and piddling debris could have been scrubbed out before publication of the river book. Charles Marlin
